Ifyoureallyloveme is an artist collective using word, music, and performance, combined with pro-beauty and anti-racist strategies, to create art in Pittsburgh and other cities. The collective was co-founded in 2015 by Cindy Croot and Joy Katz.
Joy Katz is a poet and artist. She is the author, most recently, of All You Do is Perceive, a National Poetry Series finalist and a Stahlecker Selection at Four Way Books (2013). Her other poetry collections are The Garden Room (Tupelo) and Fabulae (Southern Illinois University Press), and a chapbook, Which From That Time (Argos Press). With Kevin Prufer, she is co-editor of the acclaimed anthology Dark Horses: Poets on Overlooked Poems (University of Illinois, 2007).
She is the recipient of grants from the Barbara Deming Foundation, the Heinz Foundation, and the NEA. Other honors for her work include a Pushcart prize, a Wallace Stegner fellowship, the Nadya Aisenberg fellowship at the MacDowell Colony, and a Raveel grant at Dickinson House in Belgium.
She teaches in the graduate writing program at Chatham University and in Carlow University’s Madwomen in the Attic workshops. She is an editor-at-large for Copper Nickel.
As Resident Director of the NYC-based theatre company Conni's Avant Garde Restaurant, Cindy Croot has created immersive performances in NYC's Meatpacking District and Lower East Side; new work for the Cleveland Public Theatre; and performances at the Motherlodge Festival, ART's Club Oberon and Irondale Ensemble Theater (earning two New York Innovative Theatre Awards in 2012).
